Portrait shoot with Rowan

This family portrait shoot was meant to be.

Portrait shoots don’t often turn out like this one.

I was called and asked to do a family photoshoot via my Facebook page. This was nothing fancy, just a mother wanting shot taken with her kids and grandchildren. Rowan really stood out in these shots and felt she had potential to so some model work in the future. When the shoot was done we got Rowan to do some shot on her on and oh my god does she have the potential. Such a young girl but true natural beauty that is very hard to find.

I’m so pleased with these shots i will be calling on Rowan again in the future to work with me.

I will let her pictures do the talking now.

Portrait shoot – Dundee – Heather

Portrait shoot.

Portrait and wedding photography is what i do most, after reading the swpp magazine a quote from photographer John Denton really stuck in my mind.

“earning a living gets in the way at times. Endless streams of family shoots and weddings can stifle your creativity and cause you to fall out of love with photography

This really made me think and straight away i opened up a folder on my computer titled “inspiration”. I am constantly on the internet looking at images and drawing inspiration from them. I found an image i really liked of actress Kaley Cuoco and decided to do someting similar. Next was onto the usual Facebook search for a willing model and Heather quickly responded. We arenged a date for the shoot, i sent her the image and also my ideas for the shoot.

The idea was a simple one so didn’t take too long to shoot, it was afterwards in photoshop where most of the time was taken.

After i was happy we then continued to do some more shots just for the fun of it. I’m glad we did as one of them was given a highly commended award in the swpp monthly image competition.

As a promise to myself i will be doing a shoot from my “inspiration” folder once a month. Please keep an eye on my facebook and Twitter pages as no doubt i will be searching for different people to work with.

Wedding at Piperdam

Another wedding at the amazing Piperdam for me, this time it was for my brother in law Martin and his partner Sharon.

There really wan’t anyone else they could ask to do their photography and i couldn’t say no.

Sharon was my first ever bride to turn up late, (30 minutes) and Martin never really let her forget it thoughout the day. Sharon being late did not spoil the day however and everything else went smoothly.

To book your special day please visit Piperdams website. The staff their are incredible and i cannot reccomend the place more highly.

Portrait of Michelle

Michelle came along to my Dundee studio for a portrait session the other week and we had a blast.

Friends of Karen whom i done a horse shoot with a few months back Michelle said she would be interested in getting some shots done. After a few emails back and forth via facebook we managed to get a date sorted out that suited us both.

We started off with a very casual look to get Michelle use to being infront of the camera and to let me see how well she posed. All things were going well so i told her to go and change into her favourite dress that she brought along. I brought out my favourite fisheye lens for some of the shots and also used a bit of off camera flash to add a little drama. All of the shots on this shoot were taken just outside of my studio in Dundee, it just goes to show that you don’t have to travel far to get a really good location. Both Michelle and I were very happy with the results we got and i look forward to working with her again in the future.

Wedding at Altamount House Hotel

Ashley and Gary had their wedding at the amazing Altamount House Hotel on the hottest day of the year but the hot weather did not effect everyone having a great time.

I had been to  the Altamount once before roughly 7 years before for my sister and brothers leaving night before they left for Canada. I remembered a lot about the place and knew we would not stuggle for places to get nice pictures.

Married in the shade of the band stand with a red carpet entrance and a very quirky reading, followed by a much needed champagne before getting their pictures taken.
